How To Purchase A Camera Bag For Less
Posted 678 days ago by Amanda Raye
When I finally received my first Nikon, I was so excited that I rushed to Target to look for the cutest camera bag. I walked right over to the electronics, and was unfortunately surprised to see that all the camera bags were around $50. I sadly walked away, and noticed the “lunch bag” aisle.
These bags were perfect! They were the same size, padded with compartments and had a strap, just like the $50 ones. I ended up buying the cutest lunch bag for my camera. It’s even temperature controlled!

Check out Target, Walmart, Kmart, or even your local pharmacy!
DIY: Makeup Case — Utility style!

I’m a makeup fanatic. Over the past few years I’ve built up quite a collection, so I had to find something to put all my non-everyday makeup up in. I went to Sephora, Ulta, Target, and then Walmart to find a large cosmetic case, but found them all to be expensive. I was hopeing to spend no more than $20 but they were all about $30+.
I then lost focus, walked around the store aimlessly, and stumbled upon the hunting/fishing section. I found a large empty tackle box for $8. It was the exact size I needed, and had all these little compartments. No, it isn’t especially cute, but you could always paint it or add some stickers to “girl” it up a bit!
Way too expensive Cosmetic Cases:

Other Options = Half the Price:
These two are from Home Depot. Who would of thought a tool bag could be a great way to store excess makeup!
$9 - Husky Tool Bag
Only $5.99 - Workforce Tool Case
This has great compartments as well. Just like the $30 makeup case.

I finally settled on this tackle box from Walmart for only $8.

P.S. Buy a tackle box or tool case for your makeup, “girl” it up and send your results to hey@brokeandchic.com.

Update Your Space With Oops Paint!

Oops paint is a great way to update your space for under $10 dollars! Paint can cost anywhere between $25-$50 a gallon. That can be expensive, especially when you add all the brushes and other painting supplies you’ll need.
It’s only $5 for a gallon and $1 for a half gallon! When someone orders paint and the associate messes up or the customer changes their mind, it becomes Oops Paint. Every time I go to Home Depot or Lowe’s they have a different selection. If you don’t like any of the colors, check back another day, they are always adding more.

I got this pretty red Oops Paint before we got settled into our apartment.

DIY: Be an artist

You don’t have to be an artist to create your own decor, and you may be surprised by what you can come up with on a tight budget.
I made these birds one day using cheap panels and acrylic paint – about 6 dollars total. You can also ask your art major friend to borrow his or her supplies!
