Every year Americans take millions of flights, and it is easy to see why. Traveling is a lot of fun, and it can be a great way to experience new cultures, but it can also be a bit stressful if you don’t prepare properly.

One of the easiest ways to make your trip more enjoyable is by getting the right kind of travel luggage. There are lots of different kinds of luggage, depending on the type of trip you are taking (and how long you are going for). And, if you get the right bag, airport travel will be simple and quick! But, if you get the wrong bag, you may face delays.

Here are a few tips to help you choose the right travel luggage for your trip:

How to Choose the Right Travel Luggage

Types of Luggage

There are a few different types of travel luggage that you can buy. Some of the most popular (and practical) options include rolling suitcases, duffel bags, and backpacks. Rolling suitcases are ideal for long trips as it means you don’t have to carry the weight of the bag, while duffles and backpacks are better suited for short trips.

It is also possible to buy specific bags for certain items; for instance, it is possible to buy a golf travel bag for a golf trip, or a hiking backpack for a hiking trip.

The Size

It is also important to choose a backpack that is the right size for the airport. Most airlines will only accept carry-on bags that are 22 x 14 x 9 inches or smaller, so check online before packing for your next trip. It is often possible to pay more for bigger luggage, but this is normally fairly expensive, so we recommend getting a bag that fits the standard rules and regulations.

It is also worth noting that different countries sometimes have different rules, so it could be worth checking the regulations for your return flight home.

The Color

Black is the most popular color option for luggage, but you can buy a bag in pretty much any color you can think of. Choosing a unique color will also make your bag easier to identify when you are collecting your baggage. If you do decide to go for black, we recommend tying a ribbon across the bag so you can tell which one is yours from a distance.

Extra Features to Consider

Finally, you might want to think about getting luggage with extra features. For instance, some backpacks come with a detachable metal clip, which is ideal for hiking or biking trips, while other bags have a TSA approved lock that makes the bag even more secure and safe. This is useful if you are carrying valuable items with you.

It is even possible to buy luggage that comes with a USB charging port. Sure, this isn’t necessary for everyone, but if you want to work as you travel, it can be a life saver.
