Personally, I enjoy the fashion at Coachella even more than the “Holy Grail” of fashion industry events…Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. But why is Coachella so special? The price of your outfit is irrelevant.
At Fashion Week it’s all about what designer you’re wearing, how high your heels are and the number on the scale. At Coachella, it’s all about flowy skirts, floral headbands, bold sunglasses and good music…enough said.
We’re currently coveting the patriotic look that Ireland Baldwin rocked the other day. Instead of going with the traditional “flower power” look, she went all red, white and blue. Get the look for less below!

Hair chalking is still super trendy these days, and so the Broke & Chic team decided to make a short and sweet tutorial on how to chalk your hair in pretty pastel colors for Spring!
Of course, you can chalk your hair in any colors you’d like, but pastel hair will make you stand out — every girl wants it. The best part: hair chalking isn’t permanent and it works on all types of hair: from straight to curly, and blonde to black.
We decided on these pretty pastels. If your soft pastel set doesn’t have any pastel colors, chalk the hair with white first and then immediately after, go over it with a purple, red, blue or yellow.
3. Section off your hair
4. Spray with water and chalk
Spray a 1-inch thick strand with water. Then, grab the chalk color of your choice and rub the strand until it’s fully saturated.
5. Blow dry
Blow dry the strand for about 20 seconds.
6. Flat Iron
Flat iron the strand using the lowest setting. This dries and sets the chalk into your hair.
7. Section off top part of hair
Once you finish the top of the hair, section it off so you can focus on the bottom.

Coachella is only 16 days away! I personally get a lot of my style inspiration from street style photos snapped at the famed music festival; I just love the modern bohemian look!
If you’re heading to Coachella for the first time this year, think twice about your attire. Here are some suggestions for how to dress (and stay fashionable) for the temperamental SoCal weather:
1. Layer it on
When the sun goes down in the desert, temperatures drop. Be prepared for any weather by layering your wardrobe. Make the practical look chic by mismatching textures, patterns, and colors.
This trucker jacket from Levi’s is a classic. Its lightweight cotton material makes it perfect for layering. We like it in the light destructed finish paired with a flowy dress or over a plain white t-shirt with a pair of colorful shorts.
2. Don’t be afraid of color
Add contrast to the desert hues by throwing a pop of color in your outfit. This season, we like bold-but-beachy colors, like turquoise, coral and mint.
Have your boyfriend join in as well! These men’s 511 slim fit commuter shorts in oil blue from are the perfect way to brighten up his outfit.
For yourself, you can’t go wrong with a Gap T-shirt. The women’s colorblock slub baseball version is extra soft and slouchy, perfect for ultimate comfort and style. Pair the fire coral-colored shirt with cutoff denim shorts and comfy boots for a chic casual look.
Add an unexpected pop of color to your outfit with these Marc by Marc Jacobs retro aviator sunglasses in turquoise. The brown and blue hues pair perfectly with any getup.
3. Maximize comfort
When picking an outfit, don’t forget that you’ll be standing for most of the day. Opting for flowy, lose fabrics and flat shoes are great ways to look stylish while staying cool and comfy.
A white button-up would work perfectly with a pair of denim shorts, a black tank and a fun necklace. Opt for a comfy worn-in version of a button-up instead of a slim fit. We really like this lived-in wash pocket shirt.
If you’re more on the girly side, wear a maxi dress instead of shorts. This Free People maxi dress is perfect for warm days and cool nights and the flowy fabric gives you plenty of room for movement.
For you feet, you could always go with a classic sandal but we definitely recommend a boot. This pair from Seychelles are simple yet fun. They’re comfy enough to dance in and they’ll protect your feet from the harsh sun.
And remember, no music festival is complete without a flower headband! Either make one yourself by following this tutorial or purchase one here.

California’s famed music festival Coachella just finished weekend one and is just a few days shy of the finale weekend! Every year, Coachella has 100+ performers from all genres play for three days under the hot desert sun.
With on-site camping and star studded events one can never be over or under dressed. Take a sneak peek at some of the wonderful fashion that plagues this music festival every year! Hint: There was a cowboy meets hippie vibe this year.
Keep Coachella alive all year round by wearing high-waisted shorts, minidresses, floral prints, feathers, cropped tanks, floppy hats, unique footwear, fringe, maxi skirts and of course, cowboy boots!
