InStyle LoveGold Logo Contest: Win a $4,000 Bracelet from Love Gold and InStyle

Silver used to be my go-to jewelry color, but I’ve become more drawn to gold this past year. It all started when I saw a rose gold ring with a black diamond from Anna Sheffield. Since then, I’ve found gold, both yellow and rose to be way more elegant than silver.

Even though my taste has changed as I’ve gotten older, I’ve always been an accessory junkie. I feel extremely naked if I leave the house without all my jewelry on. Each piece is just as important as my lipstick and mascara!

I get bored fast but my current jewelry routine consists of a gold statement necklace, gold heart earrings and gold stacked rings!

To spice it up a bit, I’m hoping to add a gold watch in 2014.

What’s your favorite precious metal? If it’s gold, you must enter the Love Gold contest from InStyle Magazine!

Contest

‘Tis the season to layer up and stand out in beautiful gold jewelry. Show InStyle how you style yours – be it bold bangles, stacked rings or statement necklaces, and you could win a Phillip House Bracelet valued at $3,950!

How To Dry Out A Wet Cell Phone.

Posted 2 years ago by

Uh-oh, did you happen to drop your beloved iPhone in water? Don’t worry, it happens to the best of us. Asurion – America’s most popular technology protection company, has teamed up with Broke & Chic to tell you that “there’s still hope” if you happen to get your phone soaked.

714 How To Dry Out A Wet Cell Phone. How To Dry Out A Wet Cell Phone

Note: These tips are not guaranteed to restore a wet or damp phone to its normal functionality. The best insurance programs cover water damage, which will provide a (DRY) replacement phone!

♥ Remove the battery and SIM card immediately to prevent moisture from moving through the circuit board and causing short circuits in your mobile phone.

♥ Dry off excess moisture by hand.

♥ Remove any covers, cases or external connectors to open up as many gaps and crevices as possible for the water to escape.

♥ Place your phone, battery and SIM card in a bowl or bag of uncooked rice for 24-48 hours. The rice will act as a desiccant, which will pull moisture out of your phone.

♥ Do not dry out your cell phone with a blow dryer. The heat, even on the lowest setting, could fry your phone. Try using a vacuum instead to remove excess water from inside your phone without causing any further damage. Also, refrain from pushing buttons on your phone before it has dried out. Doing so will allow water to seep deeper into your phone and cause further damage.

Giveaway: Win A $40 iTunes Giftcard By Telling Us Your Cell Phone Mishap

We have all had cell phone mishaps (in fact, 1 in 4 people will lose, damage or have their phone stolen this year) and I’d love to hear your mobile mishap story.

Giveaway

In the comments, tell us your mobile mishap story. Did your screen shatter? Did you drop it in your coffee? Did the dog attack it? We’ve all had them. Here’s mine:

Early last year, when I was living in Midtown my boyfriend and I had a nice dinner in the East Village. Since it was a cold night, we decided to take a cab back instead of taking the subway. Right before I went to bed, I was going through my purse so I could set the alarm on my phone. I COULDN’T FIND IT ANYWHERE. Turns out, I left it in the cab. Adios iPhone 3.

The contest ends August 1, 2012. All may enter. Good luck!

Synopsis:

Marian Caldwell is a thirty-six year old television producer, living her dream in New York City. With a fulfilling career and satisfying relationship, she has convinced everyone, including herself, that her life is just as she wants it to be. But one night, Marian answers a knock on the door . . . only to find Kirby Rose, an eighteen-year-old girl with a key to a past that Marian thought she had sealed off forever. From the moment Kirby appears on her doorstep, Marian’s perfectly constructed world—and her very identity—will be shaken to its core, resurrecting ghosts and memories of a passionate young love affair that threaten everything that has come to define her.

For the precocious and determined Kirby, the encounter will spur a process of discovery that ushers her across the threshold of adulthood, forcing her to re-evaluate her family and future in a wise and bittersweet light. As the two women embark on a journey to find the one thing missing in their lives, each will come to recognize that where we belong is often where we least expect to find ourselves—a place that we may have willed ourselves to forget, but that the heart remembers forever.

Good Luck!

New Year’s Resolutions: Trop50 Giveaway Pt 1

Posted 3 years ago by

What were your New Year’s Resolutions this year? I find that most people’s had to do with dieting. If so, you should check out 12 Diet Tips for a Healthier You that was posted earlier this month to get you back on track.

I’m a person who hates the word “diet.” It’s a word set up to make us fail. You’ll either live off of lettuce and yogurt, or go on a master cleanse. It’s always this unrealistic extreme.

If you stay focused and disciplined…you’ll probably lose that “freshman 15″ but, you’ll go right back to your old habits once you hit your goal, gaining all the weight back, if not more…and the sophomore 20 is so much worse. To help you succeed in your New Year’s Resolution, scratch off that “lose 10 pounds” and instead change it to “be healthier.”

396026 240952455978685 163604703713461 599976 1505128067 n large New Years Resolutions: Trop50 Giveaway Pt 1

Don’t deprive yourself, it’s all about moderation. Love bagels? Eat half instead of the whole thing. Still a tad hungry? Opt for a fat free Greek yogurt instead of the other half.

The most sneaky pound packer, believe it or not, is our daily liquid consumption. All those sugary drinks like soda and fruit punch, and even the one’s advertised as “healthy” such as VitaminWater have sneaky sugar calories that pack on the pounds. The United Kingdom’s Advertising Standards Authority ruled that a Summer 2010 advertisement that claimed VitaminWater was “nutritious” was misleading due to the high sugar content

Water is obviously the best, but it’s okay to have a sweet tooth because Tropicana recently came out with a new drink called Trop50. This new drink delivers the goodness of fruit juice with 50% less sugar and calories than regular orange juice, with no artificial sweeteners.

New Years Resolutions: Trop50 Giveaway Pt 1 New Years Resolutions: Trop50 Giveaway Pt 1 New Years Resolutions: Trop50 Giveaway Pt 1

I happen to live with a born and raised Floridian who consumes up to a gallon of orange juice a day. Trop50 is a sigh of relief! We both can enjoy the taste without being paranoid about the sugar! Not a fan of orange juice? No worries! Trop50 has an array of other drinks like Raspberry Lemonade, Pomegranate Blueberry, Pineapple Mango, and Apple!

Why do I want to be healthier? Well, you are what you eat. When I eat more fruits and veggies than pizza and cookies, I can really feel the difference. I have more energy, and my skin just glows! With my crazy New York lifestyle, energy is crucial. Magnolia cupcakes seem appealing to the eye, but once consumed…it just weighs my eyelids down. I’ll save the fried and fattening stuff for those special occasions!
