Polka Dots as an Adult? Yes-sir-eee!

Posted 10 months ago by

Were polka dots your go-to print as a 3rd grader? If so, you might be a bit fearful of them as an adult, since polka dots can make you look young if not done right. If you’re trying to look more like Blake Lively than Suri Cruise, keep reading.

We searched the internet for hours (seriously) to show you that polka dots aren’t just a fond memory from your past. Below are eight fashion bloggers wearing polka dots right!

Layer It

Audrey Williams, the blogger behind Lulu Linden paired her polka dot blouse with a blush pink skater dress. This look has a sophisticated British vibe that works for multiple occasions — from Sunday brunch, all the way to the office.

For a more casual look, layer a polka dot blouse with a vest like Jecky of Dressvise.

Mix Prints

Heather Epstein of Fashionista NY Girl is über stylish, and this look is no different. If you have a polka dot top, consider pairing it with your favorite plaid trousers. If you’re worried about clashing, don’t worry. According to Heather:

Doing two different prints that don’t necessarily go together is all about sticking to the tone of the colors, it’s one way to keeping the look from clashing. So if you have a dark top stick with a dark bottom.

For more mix print inspiration, definitely check out Madeline from Veloria in Velvet. Her look is fun and professional!

Wear Polka Dot Denim

Wear your favorite polka dot denim with a neutral shirt for a sassy weekend look. We love how Jo of Fabulously Average wore her American Eagle polka dot jeans!

If you want something a little more colorful, consider polka dot denim in a bright color. We love how Lorna Burford, the voice behind Raindrops of Sapphire wore her coral pair.

Stick to Chambray

Chambray goes with EVERYTHING! And we mean everything. We love how Kendi, the fashionista behind Kendi Everyday wore her polka dot J.Crew skirt. So if you have a polka dot skirt collecting dust in your closet, whip it out and pair it with some chambray!

Wear with Stripes

When it comes to mixing prints, pairing stripes with polka dot is waaay less scary than plaid or houndstooth. We’re loving this ultra chic look from Alicia, the voice behind River City Chic.

Trend Alert: Asymmetrical Skirts

Posted 3 years ago by

In the past two weeks I’ve seen an incredible amount of asymmetrical skirts here in New York City. I haven’t seen anyone wear a skirt like this in quite a few years. Even then it wasn’t mainstream. I wonder if this trend will spread and stick, only time will tell! What do you think?
