Biker accessories are part of being a biker. Without the accessories, you’re just a guy (or girl) riding a motorcycle. With the right accessories, you’re representing a community of riders that stand for many different things like patriotism, freedom, strength, and confidence. In other words, no fear.
But, if you’re new to the motorcycle community or even if you’ve been riding for a while, you may not know exactly what you need until you see it. You can check out these used bikes if you haven’t yet found your motorcycle, then you can get to the accessories.
That’s why we’ve put together this list that outlines some of the must-haves you, well, must have in order to ride in comfort and style.
Let’s take a look!
Every good biker needs a comfortable, warm leather jacket. When the weather starts to cool, you won’t want to be caught dead riding in a basic coat – you’ll freeze! Remember, it gets windy on the bike, even when it’s calm outside.
For warmer weather, you may like to sport a nice leather vest which will still keep your chest and belly warm but allow you the freedom of movement to maneuver your bike and look good doing it.
That wind. It’s hard on your body even when it’s warm out. A good pair of jeans may protect your legs in the summer but during the fall, winter, and spring, the cold air and any wind associated with it will straight up tear you up.
Invest in a good pair of leather chaps so you can ride in comfort and stay warm. Chaps also come in handy in rainy weather. Although you might not ride that much when it’s raining, depending on the region where you live, rainstorms can pop up at any given moment and a good pair of chaps can be removed so your regular garments are dry when the storm
There’s a lot of rumble coming out of that engine and your hands are your lifeline while controlling your bike. Regardless of the time of year, a good pair of riding gloves, preferably leather, will save you from stopping to rest from getting worn out with the steering.
Not to mention, they’ll come in handy during the colder months.
You won’t catch many bikers riding around in flip flops or even sneakers. That’s because leather boots are the safest footwear you can have on a bike. You’re using your feet to stop and shift gears and that bike is heavy.
Think of your boots (with good soles) as your second pair of tires. It’s essential to have a good pair.
Women’s Leather Purses
Ladies, we know you love to ride, too. And what better way to represent your style than with a fashionable leather purse that makes a statement?
Some women like bags with tassels to flow in the wind as they ride while others opt for something simple that can be worn around the chest.
Regardless of the type of bag you choose, make it leather and it will last for many rides to come.
Men’s Biker Bags
Men need bags as well. Depending on how much gear you plan to carry, a nice backpack might do the trick but a good leather bag that can be worn around your waist is a great way to transport your wallet, house keys, cell phone, and other essentials such as spare Harley-Davidson parts.
Think of it this way, too, a man that can sport a bag exudes confidence and masculinity which is part of the biker experience. All the guys on the road will envy your tenacity.
Of course, if you don’t want to carry a bag and you just want to enjoy the ride, some other cool bike accessories are bike bags. They’re a great way to decorate your bike while also serving a functional purpose.
Lots of bikers choose saddlebags, whether hard case or leather while others might opt for a simple handlebar bag or bike rack bag . The cool thing about the latter is the option to remove the bag when you’re traveling and carry it with you.
Biker jewelry is another staple accessory every biker should have, even if just one piece like bike chain jewelry. Although, rings are the most popular type of jewelry for bikers because they don’t get in the way or blow in the wind while you’re riding.
For the ladies (ahem, and the guys) there are some super rad earrings, studs, and hoops, that can set you apart from your fellow bike gang members.
Depending on where you live, there may or may not be helmet laws , but the truth is, it’s always a good idea to wear a helmet, especially on long rides. You can find helmets that match your bike, match your personality or both.
The important thing is that you have something to protect your brain in case of an accident because regardless of how badass you
are, you’re still vulnerable to injury.
Some bike models have awesome stereo systems equipped but for bikers with a more streamlined model, Bluetooth headphones will serve you well. If you get cordless headphones, you can listen to music in just one ear so you can keep your other ear on the road.
Otherwise, they’ll come in handy to answer phone calls instead of digging in your pockets and/or bags for your phone.
Cell Phone Mount
Speaking of answering the phone, why not install a cell phone mount on your handlebars? It will come in handy for accessing your phone for emergencies or perhaps a video chat with your significant other to show them the view when they can’t ride with you.
