Black leather has taken over the wardrobes of many for multiple seasons in the forms of biker jackets, skirts, dresses, and even sweaters — but there’s a new player in town. Nude leather! It’s lighter, it’s brighter, and it’s just as fabulous as black. But like any new trend, it can be scary to try.
The best way to incorporate this new trend into your wardrobe is with a skirt. For one, skirts look good on everybody. Neutrals also complement every skin tone and style preference, so you don’t have to worry about any clashes.
Below is Nydia Mercado, the blogger behind A Girl Named Nydia, wearing her favorite nude leather skirt three different ways:
Consider pairing a cropped black top with your nude leather skirt. The dark meets neutral look is ultra chic and fierce. Finish off the outfit by adding gold accessories and black shoes.
- Nude Faux Leather Skirt: $15.80 via Forever 21
- Crop Top: via Pacsun
- Clutch: $7.00 via Zara
- Shoes: $40.00 via ShoeDazzle

2. Put a Sweater on It
It’s very difficult to mess up neutral colors, so just put a neutral sweater over it!
- Sweater: via Zara (similar)
Chambray looks good with everything — from jeans to floral skirts (and of course, nude leather). Here Nydia tucked an oversized chambray shirt into her faux leather nude skirt, and she’s looking pretty rad.
- Chambray Top: $15.oo via Old Navy
- Hat: $9.00 via Pacsun (similar)
- Shoes: $40.00 via ShoeDazzle (similar)
According to Nydia:
I was going for a girly look with earthy tones, so adding my army green hat and ankle high heel booties was a must! The hat is one of my recent additions to my collection, and the best part was the price of course… only 9$! Hurray for sales! I completed the look with statement earrings and red lips.
Even though spring seems light-years away, it’s only weeks down the road. Once it warms up a bit, try re-creating one of Nydia’s looks!
