3 Fashionable Cars That Won’t Break the Bank

Posted January 18, 2013 by in Lifestyle

Fashion Week is getting warmed up and that means this fashionista is heading to the desert. First stop, The Fresh Start Fashion Gala at the Biltmore Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona. This time around, I’m going on the road; I’ve never been a huge fan of flying and going by car will give me the opportunity to really see the “Wild West” and take pictures of the all of the sites I see along the way.

Since my little unreliable Ford Taurus won’t make it that far, I’ve decided to trade her in for another used car that has lower mileage and will handle a longer haul, while still being fashionable. Below are my top three picks.

2011 Ford Fiesta Sedan

This car is a party on wheels. Sporty and so cute, this compact sedan that has lots of pep! Edmunds.com rates the 2011 Ford Fiesta Sedan with four stars, and at around $10,000, it’s still pretty affordable. It doesn’t come with a navigation system, so that’s a bummer but, if you’re better at reading a map than I am, you should have lots of fun driving this car. This fuel-saving car gets 37 mpg and comes with high-end luxury add-ons if you’ve got the extra cash.

2007 Honda Element SUV

First let me say that if you are into carpooling, have a family or enjoy going on adventures with your friends, this car is definitely for you. The 2007 Honda Element SUV got 4.5 stars overall from Edmunds.com and scores high in reliability. It’s a little too big for my taste, since I rarely drive with passengers. But, if you like SUVs, this one gets pretty good mileage too at 23 mpg and priced at an affordable $10,500. You can’t go wrong.

2010 BMW 3 Series Convertible

What can I say? This car was love at first drive. I don’t usually go for convertibles, but since I’m going on a cross country trip and want to have quick access to the sites around me, I had to test it out.

It’s $30,000 for the 2010 BMW 3 Series Convertible. With it’s smooth engine and steady torque, it is the safest car I’ve ever driven and it get’s 26 mpg on the highway. Although I didn’t end up going with this car, I loved it.

In the end I opted for a cute convertible bug, and can’t wait to drive my new-to-me VW to Scottsdale. I am so excited to experience a taste of what life is like out west. I’ve got my camera, and my Pinterest account is revved up and ready to show the fashion world what fashion week in Arizona is all about.  Want to go on a cross-country adventure yourself? Try getting rid of your junk car in order to buy a high-end vehicle like mine!
