While working out and getting physical exercise can be great for your body and your mind, it can also potentially open you up to getting hurt as well. But luckily, with the right habits and an understanding of safe exercise practices, you can get fit without having to worry about ruining your body or your lifestyle in the process.

Adequately Warm Up And Cool Down
One of the first and most important things you can do to ensure that you don’t get hurt while you’re working out is to adequately warm up and cool down before and after your physical activity.
If you’re not sure what counts as a proper warm up before you get into your actual workout, Dr. Melinda Ratini, a contributor to WebMD.com, recommends starting off with things like jumping rope, going for a light jog, or doing some dynamic stretching. And after you’ve finished your workout, it’s important that you spend some time stretching then as well.
Ideally, your warm-up should get your heart slowly pumping harder and get your muscles and joints loosened up. As for your cool down, plan to spend about five to ten minutes slowly getting your heart back to its normal pace and cooling your muscles back down to avoid pulling or straining.
Practice Proper Form
During your actual workout, the form you maintain while exercising can either help your body build strength and stamina or hurt your body by causing you to move in unnatural and harmful ways. Because of this, it’s crucial that you know the proper form for whatever exercise you take on.
