Acne is a common skin condition that affects millions of people around the world. It develops when the pores of the skin get clogged with bacteria. It can be extremely embarrassing and knock your confidence, especially if you don’t know how to control it. If you’ve tried loads of medicines and products with no luck, you may be wondering if there’s anything you can do to treat acne.

Luckily, there are a number of home remedies which are believed to help keep your skin clear, reduce inflammation, and reduce redness. Here are just a few things you can try to treat your acne condition:

Natural Remedies for Acne
1. Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil originates in Australia, unsurprisingly, from the tea tree. It has been used within medicines for generations, but one of its most common uses is treating the skin, and especially acne. Tea tree oil is a natural anti-inflammatory, so after applying it to your skin, you may find that it reduces redness and irritation of your breakouts.

This natural oil is also thought to contain antimicrobial properties which prevent bacteria from spreading and causing breakouts. Although it may not cure acne completely, it certainly helps to improve the symptoms.

Since tea tree oil can be very harsh to the skin, especially  sensitive skin, use very sparingly and always dilute it. Try adding a single drop to your lotion before going to be at night.

2. CBD

Studies have shown that CBD oil has a link to improving the symptoms of acne, due to its anti-inflammatory properties and effect on the oil glands, which can over-produce oil in the skin and lead to clogged pores.

Another study carried out by La Clinica Terapeutica discovered that CBD also improves the visual appearance of acne scars and therefore, promotes suppleness and hydration of the skin. CBD oil is made using high CBD hemp seeds, which can be purchased in bulk to last you for years to come.

3. Lemon Juice

One of the simplest home remedies on this list is lemon juice, which can be bought in the bottle or squeezed fresh from a lemon. The acidity of lemons is thought to be their key antibacterial agent to help keep the skin healthy, as well as an exfoliant to remove dead cells and unclog pores.

You don’t have to apply lemon juice straight onto the face. You can dilute by mixing with honey to create a paste and smooth over the face. Leave it to absorb into the skin for up to 10 minutes and wash off with cold water. Honey is a natural exfoliator.

4. Oatmeal

Oatmeal is more than just a tasty and healthy breakfast option; it can also work wonders for your acne condition. It is believed to be a natural antioxidant which reduces irritation, inflammation and rehydrates the skin. It contains zinc which is believed to be the active ingredient to kill off the bacteria that causes acne breakouts, as well as drying out any excess oil in the skin.

You can create your own oatmeal mask by mixing with honey and other natural ingredients. Smooth over the face, leave for up to 20 minutes and wash off with cool water.

If you have been suffering from an acne condition for some years, we hope these home remedies will tackle the issue and give you your confidence back!
