Even though the weather has been rather hot and humid this month, Fall is definitely on its way. Yup, in as little as four weeks, we might not be able to leave the house without a sweater. Crazy to think, huh?
To be honest, I’m getting a bit excited about it. What I’m not excited about is the shopping. Due to an upcoming move, I need to save, save, save. If you’re on the same boat, don’t fret. Below are a few ideas that will Fall-ify your wardrobe without breaking the bank:
Browse the Sales
When it comes to fall clothes shopping, you have to make use of the sales. Now, you need to realize the trick is not to buy cheap clothes. They won’t last as long, and they’ll look cheap. Instead, you need to buy decent clothes that happen to be on sale. This, of course, means having a good understanding of the sales and keeping up with them. It also means you may have to do some shopping around too.
Make use of the sales as much as you can. As a thrifty shopper, they are your bread and butter.
Buy Online
You need to consider what your expenses are when you go shopping. Understand that you’re not just paying for the clothes you buy. There are fuel and parking costs too. Then you need to consider food; If you’re out shopping for more than an hour or two, you’ll probably want to grab a bite to eat. This all adds up.
To prevent over spending, shopping online may be your best bet. It’s quick, efficient, and thrifty (and you don’t even need to leave the house).
Tip: Online-only Labor Day sales are right around the corner, so be ready!
Accessorize
Accessorizing is my secret weapon, and the perfect way to transform any outfit. The great thing about accessories is that they are inexpensive, and can be used again and again. Things like jewelry, belts and scarves are essential for us girls! Head to your nearest accessory store (H&M, and F21 are my favs) and stock up on a few of the most versatile bits.
Think Outside of the Box
There are plenty of ways to get clothes that don’t involve spending money. You could swap outfits with friends or siblings. Or, if you really want to mix things up, you could make your own clothes! This sounds crazy, but if you think about it for a second, it makes perfect sense. You can make whatever you want and customize it to suit you. Make sure you have all the necessary equipment first though. So if you’re a denim girl, you’ll want to look at the best sewing machines for denim. You’re also going to need plenty of thread and materials.
By making use of these great ideas, you can save money and still be a fashionable gal this Fall! How do you go re-stock your wardrobe when you’re on a tight budget? Let us know in the comments below!
