When you stay hydrated on a daily basis, you’re helping your body in ways you may not realize. Water carries nutrients to cells, keeps your bladder and liver healthy, and prevents constipation. Unfortunately, it’s easy to forget to drink enough water in today’s busy world. Many people also depend too heavily on sodas and energy drinks.
The good news is, there are plenty of easy ways to stay on top of your water consumption. Keep reading for five ways to drink more water each day:
-
Use a Special Bottle
You need to get approximately 64 ounces of water every day. This may seem impossible while you’re busy working, but there’s a simple solution. Invest in a high-quality water bottle or thermos you like. I personally like my colorful Swell bottle. Since it’s so bright, I’m reminded to take a sip every time I see it.
If you get a 32-ounce bottle, make a rule that you have to drink two full bottles of water each day.
-
Add Some Flavor
Let’s face it, water is boring. However, there are several ways to make it more appealing to your taste buds. Try using a flavor additive in your water. You can find brands with no sugar or calories. All you do is drop them in your water bottle or glass.
Adding fruit to a pitcher of water is another way to make it taste better. Lemons, berries, apples, and oranges all work perfectly. Cucumber and fresh basil are also great in water.
-
Take Advantage of Sparkling Water
If you love soda and are having a tough time cutting down your intake, try switching to sparkling water. You still get the kick of carbonation, but it’s all water. Sparkling water is available in a wide range of flavors. Most of them contain no sugar, calories, or sodium. The sangria flavor sparkling water from Trader Joes is amazing! I’m also a sucker for the Key Lime Pie flavor from La Croix.
Dehydration is the cause of headaches, dry skin, dizziness, and many other issues. Drinking sparkling water will prevent all of them.

Get Digital Help
If you’re having trouble maintaining a healthy intake of water, your smartphone can come in handy. There are many apps designed to help you keep track of how much you drink.
Many of these apps will alert you when it’s time for another glass. Seeing how much you’ve consumed and how much you need is a great motivator.
-
Switch to a Straw
When people drink from a straw, they tend to consume more liquid than when sipping from a cup or bottle. A straw is also more convenient, especially while you’re working.
Try using a straw for a few days and see how much more water you drink. If you’re not a straw person, don’t worry. You’ll get used to them.
If you find success with a straw, make sure to get a reusable one so you’re not throwing away plastic all the time.
Once you start getting the proper amount of water each day, it’ll amaze you how much better you feel. All it takes is getting into a good routine.
