It’s hot af outside today. So hot that being outside, even for a second, is unbearable. It’s especially rough if you live in an area with few tall buildings (for shade) or a natural breeze. I’m currently in Richmond, Virginia, a place that’s known for hot and muggy summers. So when there is a heatwave, or hotpocalypse as I like to call it, going outside is a no-no.
If you live in an area that’s currently experiencing a heatwave, but you don’t want to stay cooped up all day, here are five things to do when it’s too hot to go outside:
Go to a Brewery
Reach out to your friends, and go to a local brewery. You’ll be able to enjoy the AC as well as a nice cold beer or cider.
Go to a Movie
Movie theaters are know for being ice cold year-round, so why not go during a heatwave? There are so many must-see movies out right now, too! Toy Story 4, The Lion King, Aladdin, Midsommar (for those who have the stomach for it), and some theaters still have MIB and Detective Pikachu playing.
Treat yourself to those ice cream bites while you’re at it!
Go Ice Skating
Many towns and cities across the country have indoor ice skating rinks open year-round. If you want to get some exercise, stay cool, and learn something new, consider going. It’ll be super chilly in there!
Go to a Community Pool
If you do want to go outside, see if your town has a community pool. They are usually free to use and they are a great way to cool down all summer long.
Go Bowling
If you haven’t gone bowling since your 10th birthday in 1999, why not today? There will be AC and no windows, so it will be a nice break from the sauna that is currently your backyard.
I hope these five ideas help you stay cool and entertained during this heatwave! What do you usually do when it’s hot af outside? Let us know in the comments below!
