If there’s one New Year’s Resolution that nearly everyone makes (and breaks) each year, it’s to live a healthier life. Of course, it’s one thing to say that you intend to form healthy habits. It’s another to actually make good on your word.
Not sure where you can get started? Here are 5 healthy daily habits that you should be doing to enjoy a happier and longer life.

1. Go Outside and Touch Grass
One of the best healthy daily habits you can form is to spend some time with nature every day. This will, by necessity, make you stand up, walk around, and get some exercise.
Plus, spending time in nature can reduce your stress levels. That’s one of the many reasons why home offices tend to incorporate plantlife these days.
2. Develop Clean Eating Habits
If you want to extend your lifespan, you need to cut out the junk food. Developing clean eating habits such as:
- Cooking your food from home
- Eating more fruits and vegetables
- Avoiding processed food and sugar
- Reducing your caffeine and alcohol intake
All of the above can help you feel better and live healthier.
3. Hydrate Yourself
If you want to live a long and healthy life, you need to drink more water. However, staying hydrated can be a challenge when the tap water that you have access to has too many chemicals or minerals in it. Or worse, if you work with hard tap or well water.
Unless you want to spend an exorbitant amount of money on bottled water for the rest of your life, you’re going to need something to clean the water you have on hand. A good hard water filter can help you save money and drink clean water at home.
4. Control Your Screen Time
Let’s face it: We all spend way too much time attached to our screens, be they phone, laptop, or computer. One of the best healthy daily habits that we can create is to reduce or eliminate screen time where possible.
Both Apple and Android have apps that can help you manage both your screen time and your family’s.
5. Sharpen Your Mind
Healthy living doesn’t stop at your physical body. It also involves improving your mental health. You can do this by sharpening your mind with books and puzzles.
Writing in a journal can help you process your thoughts and manage your mental and emotional well-being. This, too, can sharpen your mind and help you form better habits.

Forming healthy daily habits can be difficult. While you can drink more water, practice clean eating, and get more exercise, these are not the only steps you can take to boost your physical and mental health.
