I’ve had my share of yucky green drinks over the years, until I finally found some that tasted good — thanks Cooler Cleanse and BluePrint! But as a smoothie maker, I’ve avoided green smoothies like the plague…until recently.
A cashier at Liquiteria convinced me to try their Mean Green smoothie, with the promise that “it doesn’t taste like spinach at all.” I gave it a try and loved it! I really can’t afford to spend $10 every morning on their fab green smoothie, so I decided to experiment at home. Below is the Broke & Chic version! It’s super sweet, filled with vitamin C and it’ll give you an energy boost. Perfect for breakfast or a post-workout treat!
Tropical Green Smoothie
What You Need
- A blender
- 1/2 cup of ice
- 1 kale leaf (if it’s pre-chopped, use 2 handfuls)
- 2 handfuls of spinach
- 1/2 cup of frozen pineapple
- 1/2 cup of frozen mango
- 1 banana
- 1 cup of pineapple juice
* Makes two servings
To make it even more nutritious, add some chia seeds! If you want to experiment with green smoothies yourself, stay away from non-juicy fruits and try to focus on oranges, peaches, mango and pineapple.
