I personally love camping. Some of my best childhood memories are from times camping with my family in Maine. Unfortunately after I graduated from high school and moved to New York City, camping just became a distant memory. I had a small apartment, so I didn’t have a place to store any camping gear, and I didn’t own a vehicle. Fast forward 10 years and I now live in sunny Los Angeles. Not only do I have a vehicle that allows me to take short camping trips whenever I want to, I also finally have an apartment that has a bit of extra space. LA is just as expensive as NYC, but you do get more bang for buck.
I now go camping all of the time! My boyfriend and I will decide last minute to go camping after work on Friday. We just quickly load up one of our cars and drive to the desert. Joshua Tree is definitely one of my favorite places to camp in Southern California. With little light pollution, the stars are breathtaking. If neither of us are feeling the 2.5 hour drive, we camp nearby. There are some many beautiful camping spots within an hour from Los Angeles such as Lancaster and the National Forest.
