A Valentine’s Day Proposal: Tacky or Cute?

Posted January 25, 2016 by in Lifestyle

Valentine’s day isn’t too far away, and many people choose to propose on this holiday. Why? Well, it’s supposed to be one of the most romantic days of the year. Couple’s everywhere decide to do special things together, and put a little more effort into their relationships. But is a Valentine’s Day proposal tacky or cute? Here are some do’s and don’ts to make sure you get the proposal right:

Do Throw Your Other Half Off

If you plan on proposing on Valentine’s Day or any other holiday for that matter, make sure you throw your other half off. You don’t want to make what you’re doing obvious to them. Don’t propose over dinner or get the waiter to bring the ring out with him. You need to be original, and make sure they aren’t expecting it. That’s the only time this sort of proposal is acceptable — when you’ve used your brain to think outside of the box!

Do Consider Her Personality

Consider your partner’s personality before proposing. Is she the type of girl who would love and appreciate this kind of proposal? Or is she unique? If she’s unique, you should try to be a little more creative than proposing on Valentine’s Day.

Don’t Overplan

Over planning your proposal will leave you stressed and your other half will probably wonder what she’s done wrong. You don’t want her to be in a mood for the proposal! All you need to do is find an amazing ring and plan a proposal that suits her personality. You don’t need to look at a wedding invitation template or anything like that, yet! You should both feel happy and relaxed before you pop the question. You may have some nerves, but you need to try to calm them. Don’t get drunk though — she won’t take you seriously!

Don’t Go for Any (Other) Cliches

If you must propose on a day like Valentine’s Day, don’t go for any other cliches. Make an effort to make this a story neither of you will get bored of for years to come. You’ll be telling it for a while! Plus, you don’t want her friends or your friends to laugh behind your back at the huge soppy cliche way you proposed. Make it romantic, but don’t make it cliche. They are two different things!

Do Make Sure it’s a Special Occasion

You don’t need to propose on a holiday, but you do need to make sure it’s a special occasion. Your other half may be furious she was wearing a casual t-shirt at the time of proposal! Make sure you’re both a little dressed up. She’ll feel much better and you’ll be able to take nice pictures!

Well, do you think a Valentine’s Day proposal is tacky or cute? You can make it a dream proposal for you and your other half if you use the tips in this guide, either way! I hope you get the answer you want and live happy lives together. Good luck!
