I don’t exercise the same way throughout the year. I’m more drawn to cardio and weight lifting during the summer months—and I’m more drawn to workouts like yoga and pilates during the winter. To get even more specific, I’ve been on a hot yoga kick lately.
After an intense 90 minute hot yoga session, I need to re-fuel my body with water and nutrients. If you’re looking for a new protein shake recipe to fuel your winter workouts that could also double as a healthy dessert option, look no further. I’m currently loving the hot cocoa flavored protein powder from Naked Nutrition. When mixed with ice and unsweetened almond milk, it reminds me of the world famous frozen hot chocolate from Serendipity 3 in New York City. Unlike the frozen hot chocolate from Serendipity 3, this one is vegan, has only three grams of sugar, and it’s filled with nutrients! Check out my recipe below:

A Healthy (and vegan!) Frozen Hot Chocolate Recipe Inspired by Serendipity 3— Featuring Naked Nutrition!
Ingredients
- 2 scoops of the Hot Cocoa Flavored Protein Powder from Naked Nutrition
- 3 ice cubes
- 1 cup of unsweetened almond milk
- Dairy-free whipped cream (optional)
- Cacao nibs or grated dark chocolate
- Blender (I love my Nutribullet)

Directions
- Add 2 scoop of Naked Nutrition’s hot cocoa flavored protein powder, 3 ice cubes, and 1 cup of unsweetened almond milk to your blender.
- Blend.
- Optional: Add some dairy-free whipped cream and cacao nibs—I already had dark chocolate in my pantry, so I just grated it over the dairy-free whipped cream.
- Enjoy!
Note: If your frozen hot chocolate is too thick, add more unsweetened almond milk until your desired texture is achieved.

Even though I now call Los Angeles home, I will forever crave the frozen hot chocolate from Serendipity 3—especially after a long yoga session in the heat. This recipe not only helps ease my favorite NYC dessert craving, but it’s healthy, vegan, low in calorie, and it’s jam packed with nutrients, not sugar.
