Bad Day? 5 Ways to Turn It Around

Posted September 25, 2015 by in Lifestyle

I had a terrible day yesterday. I spilled coffee all over my white shirt on the way to work — it was beyond noticeable and it wouldn’t come out. I forgot to put my nice shoes in my purse on my way out and was stuck wearing Birkenstock’s with a skirt all day (believe me, it didn’t go). I forgot my lunch. A meeting at work didn’t go as planned.  The list goes on…

I thought a nice dinner with my boyfriend would turn my bad day around, but he ended up staying late at work, so dinner was spent all by my lonesome (okay, Netflix joined me). To make matters worse, we’re moving in a few weeks and we still don’t have a new apartment lined up (so stressful).

Sure, my day could have been way worse, but Thursday was not “the greatest day ever.” I’m sure my day was made worse because of my attitude, so I decided that the next time my day isn’t going as planned, I’ll turn it around.

Below are five things you can do that can turn a bad day into a not-so-bad-day:

Put on Some Bold Lipstick and Move On

This is something I did yesterday, and I did feel better after. I took my bun out (to try and cover that coffee stain), and I put on the brightest lipstick I had in my purse. I don’t know about you, but I always feel more social and happy when I have a bold pout.

Enjoy Happy Hour

Instead of going straight home, I should have asked a coworker or friend if they wanted to get a margarita somewhere. A cheap cocktail is always the way to go if the day isn’t going your way!

Yes please!

Listen to Some Music

I already knew my boyfriend wouldn’t be home for dinner, but I did make the effort to have fun anyway. While making dinner, I played my favorite music and danced around the kitchen. I actually had fun with me, myself, and I!

Buy Yourself a Treat

Whether you purchase an edible treat or a wearable treat, doing something for you will make you feel way better.

How can you say no to a donut?

Call Your Mom

Sometimes a nice long chat with mom is all you need.

You had me at Happy Hour…and donuts! Also, sometimes a chat with my Mom is the only way to clear my head after a bad day. Hope your next day was totally awesome!
