We all wish we could make ourselves just a tiny weeny bit more beautiful than we are already. Of course, real beauty comes from within. But there’s no harm giving our outsides a bit of a pamper every now and then. Since it’s summer, there’s vacations to be had and parties to be attending — the perfect excuse to ‘get pretty.’
Unfortunately, not all of us can afford the same treatments as Kim Kardashian. With this in mind, I’ve put together some budget friendly ways to pamper yourself this summer.
DIY Hair Masks
Our manes usually take a beating during the summer. Between the sun glaring on our scalps and the humidity, dryness and frizz are two common problems. If you want to keep your hair in tip-top condition, consider making your own deep conditioners. Coconut oil, olive oil, and yogurt are excellent for your locks (and they’re right in the kitchen!).
Have a look on the internet and you’ll find loads of DIY hair mask recipes.
Sudocrem
Do you keep over-spending when it comes to moisturizers? You could be missing a trick! Sudocrem is a real budget-friendly way to be beautiful this summer. This ingenious stuff can look after you skin almost as good as the super expensive beauty products. It’s also magnificent for getting rid of red patches and spots. Cover your face in this nappy cream before you go to sleep. You’ll wake up with baby soft skin in the morning. Perfect!
It’s also the perfect moisturizer to apply on your dry spots (knees, ankles, and elbows) before applying self-tanner.
Hair Removal
How many of you spend a fortune on waxes during the summer? We’re all prone to baring a bit more flesh when the sun comes out, but waxing can be expensive (let alone painful). Yet shaving can cause rashes and doesn’t last very long. It’s honestly a vicious (and expensive) cycle.
If you’re a fan of hair removal, you may want to consider looking into the No!No! thermicon hair removal technology instead. It was created as an alternative to shaving and is a far more cost-effective option. If you still fancy a wax but don’t want to splash the cash, find out if there’s a cosmetology or esthetics school near you. Students offer treatments for free in order to build up their experience.
Lip Scrubs
If you’re experiencing ultra chapped lips, up your water intake, protect your lips every morning by applying a lip color with SPF (lips can get burned too), and exfoliate your lips about once a week.
You can of course purchase a lip scrub, but why not make your own? Here’s an easy recipe that only requires items from your kitchen!
Hit The Sales
Finally, one of my favorite tips for staying beautiful on a budget. We’re quickly approaching the end-of-summer sales, so get out there and grab a bargain. Plenty of beauty stores will reduce their prices in time for their back-to-school and fall stock. With many cosmetics lasting 12-24 months, they’ll keep until next summer too. So you can stock up on your sunscreen and warmer weather products.
There’s nothing better than the feeling of nabbing yourself a beauty bargain. Plus, you’ll congratulate yourself next summer when you remember that you’re all set for the coming months.
