Everyone is busy setting up their home offices at the moment, and many do look exceptionally elegant. Decked out with designer desks and fashionable furnishings. But this can cost a huge amount of money to do. And we don’t all have a big budget to work with. So, how do you create your perfect home office on a small budget?
Here’s a few ideas:
Decorating Your Office On a Budget
Decorating an office on a budget is easier than you might think. But of course, it all depends on what you’re starting with. If your walls are in good condition, then the cost to paint a room won’t be too expensive. Even if you want to use the most on-trend colors. If the color you want is produced by a deluxe brand and is too expensive, then use a color match service at your local DIY or paint store. They can mix up some paint to the exact shade you’re after, without having to pay the premium price.
We don’t all have the money to add new flooring either. But, by giving your existing floor a good clean and adding a rug to tie in with your wall color, it could be just as good. If you’ve got a hard wood floor, this may just need a bit of extra care to make it look new again.
How to Furnish an Office Without Spending Too Much Money
Just because your budget for furnishings is small, doesn’t mean you can’t be stylish. You’ll just need to shop around a little, and perhaps look for good quality second-hand furniture. And if you’re good with DIY or crafts, then you could make your own simple desk.
Whilst you’re saving money on your desk, you may wish to spend more on your chair. Getting a good chair with lumbar support and a lever to adjust the height will increase your comfort. However, you can still shop around to save money. Look for end of season or clearance sales, to make your money stretch a bit further. If you’re buying online, look for places that also offer free delivery.
Affordable Accessories For Your Home Office
Adding decorative accessories to your home office will help it to look stylish and won’t cost a lot to do. Just be sure to coordinate your accessories with your décor to create one complete style rather than a mishmash.
Make a list of things you’d like and stick to it, so you don’t get carried away or spend too much. You may just need a couple of pictures, some nice stationery and a memo board to bring your office together.
