Four Iconic Places for Romantic Getaways

Posted March 2, 2016 by in Lifestyle

Everyone deserves a treat now and then, and there’s no better excuse to take a break than when you’re running off for a romantic weekend away with your partner. I’ve been looking into a few ideas of my own based around iconic destinations that I would love to visit. I’ve included places with a bit of variety too; while Europe is better for your budget, you’d be surprised what awesome package deals you can find for far off lands.

Paris, France

Is there anywhere in the world that shouts romance from the rooftops quite as loudly? Paris is synonymous with decadent food, high-end fashion, European splendour, but most of all, love. Whether it’s sitting in a cafe of an evening looking out onto the Eiffel Tower, or touring the quaint and historic streets, I would love to go on a break away with my partner here.

Lake Garda, Italy

Most people think of Lake Como for romance, but I would love to visit it’s more dramatic and picturesque cousin, Lake Garda. The mountainous landscapes around this region offer the most beautiful backdrop for whimsical walks or lounging by the lakeside before a quick dip together. Then you can head for one of the many restaurants and bars that serve fresh, local, traditional Italian cuisine, and share a bottle of wine under the stars.

Niagara Falls, Canada

This is another destination on my bucket list; I may be broke, but this is definitely chic! Plus, with the number of holiday deals available, shopping around for the best one could save you hundreds! I saw a picture recently of when the Falls colourfully lit up at night – I instantly thought this would be the perfect location for a dreamy break away.

With botanical gardens and the nightlife of Clifton Hill only a stone’s though away too, there’s so much for a loved-up couple to do. Why not check out the niagarafallsmarriott.com website? You’ll be guaranteed that romantic, Niagara Falls view from room.

Dubrovnik, Croatia

Croatia seems to have exploded in popularity recently – everyone I know seems to be heading there! After doing a little research, I can see why. Not only is it a great place to go if you don’t have too much money to spare, but the Old Town in particular is one of the prettiest historic towns I have ever seen, almost fairytale-like!

I can already see myself walking the streets before heading down to a restaurant by the sea; glorious views of the ocean that lead to a magnificent sunset. I’ll have to make sure we go in July too, so that I don’t miss the famous open-air Summer Festival of theatre, music and dancing.
