Getting A More Restful Night’s Sleep

We can all struggle with low energy from time to time. Especially if we have been feeling a little stressed, or trying to cram too much into our days. It can all get a little overwhelming. Which is why a restful night’s sleep can be so important to feel rejuvenated for the next day. But often because we let our minds wander, or we don’t relax, we can end up having a terrible sleep and feel worse the next day.

It’s a vicious cycle that has to stop. With that in mind, here are some of the ways you can improve the quality of sleep you get. Therefore providing you with a more restful night:

Turn Off The Technology

Using technology can be a big problem for us all. We can become distracted throughout the day by checking social media. Or use the time before sleeping to check on our emails and read some articles on the internet. Some of us even watch TV in bed.

While it’s nice to try and relax the screen time can cause havoc to our brains. It doesn’t allow your mind to relax and unwind from the day. This is where refraining from using technology at least an hour before bed has been proven to aid in better quality sleep. Try reading a book or doing gentle meditation as an alternative.

Exercise More

You may feel low on energy, or struggling because you feel tired, but is you body and mind tired? The likelihood is that it isn’t. Exercising can actually be a great way to encourage a better night’s sleep. You can start by making a choice to be more active day to day, and that can include walking, going for a run, a home workout or attending a gym class.

You don’t need to shave away over gym machinery, unless, of course, that is the type of exercise you enjoy doing. Make sure you get your body tired and subsequently your mind will join it.

Are Your Hormones To Blame?

Hormones can be to blame for a lot of things surprisingly, and so it may be time to start looking into whether they are the reason behind your lack of sleep. Too might of a hormone can cause your body to feel alert or in flight mode, too little of hormones and you can become lethargic. The aim is for a restful nights sleep focusing on quality, so taking extra supplements day to day such as melatonin could help you to get the best sleep. Sometimes a trip to the doctors to be aware of your vitamin, nutrient and hormone levels can be very enlightening.

Hydrate Your Body

It is also important for you to keep your body hydrated. Water can count for so much when it comes to our health and wellbeing, and not only can it improve skin tone and condition, and make you feel happier and energized, it can also aid you in a good night’s sleep. That is because your body has what it needs to rejuvenate and repair over the night.

Make Time For You

Too often we can get wrapped up in our daily thoughts or chores. So much so that it can seem we don’t get any time for ourselves. This is where you need to try and make time for you. This is the perfect chance for you to do something that you want, even if it’s just sitting quietly or taking a hot shower. Time for you is important to remember what all the daily rush is for. We have to learn to enjoy our lives as well as work for them. Having time out to relax will enable you to slowly switch off your mind from the day’s activities. Putting you in a better frame of mind for bed.

Consider Your Surroundings

A lot of the time the reason you are not sleeping well is your surroundings and bed. Perhaps the mattress hasn’t been changed in a while, and you are noticing aches and pains in the morning. Replacing your mattress could be an option. There are plenty to choose from, hard and soft mattresses, cool or memory foam. Will a harder touch be more comfortable? All of which can be decided by trying mattresses in a store.

However, it’s not just about what you sleep on it’s also the room. Is it cluttered or tidy? Is the room clean or is it one of those jobs you haven’t got round to on your chores list? A cluttered, messy room can affect your mind making it difficult to relax and unwind in that environment.
