Sadie Nardini has quite a story to tell. As a teen, Sadie suffered from a central nervous system illness that rendered her nearly paralyzed for over two years. She fought back for the next decade, attempting to conquer a disease that doctors told her likely wasn’t possible to heal from. It worked.
Instead of investing in a wheelchair as she was encouraged to do by physicians, she invested in yoga, a whole food diet, and mind-centering techniques to create a miracle.
Today, Sadie is one of the fiercest yoga and wellness leaders in the world with a mind, body and spirit that is healthy, strong and capable of greatness. With the launch of her new book, 21-Day Yoga Body, we attended an event where Sadie taught us simple ways to do great things for our bodies — despite our busy schedules:
1. Double-Down Breath
When you have a busy life that’s always go, go, go, it’s very easy to get over-whelmed and stressed. This 5 minute breathing exercise will not only help you relax, but it’ll calm you down in a way that’ll give you a fresh perspective on the situation at hand.
Start by breathing in for four counts through the nose, allowing the ribs to flair wide. Hold this for a moment, then exhale on eight counts from your mouth.
2. Hot Lemon Detox
Before coffee or tea, drink hot water with lemon. It’ll detox your body and help you prepare for the day ahead.
3. Multi-Task your Wellness
If you’re planning to do something that’s not the best for your body, at least add a positive to it.
Wear things that do good for your body such as Hanes Hosiery. Alive, their new line, compresses and massages your legs and can help prevent varicose veins later on. Graduated compression is especially good for those on their feet all day and find themselves suffering from leg fatigue throughout the day.
Another great way to multi-task your wellness is to re-vamp your cocktails. If you’re going to drink, make sure it’s doing something good for you too. Organic vodka, fresh fruit and seltzer would be a good option.
4. Dress-Up 3x More than Necessary
It’s not about them, it’s about you. Over dressing everyday will make you feel like a superstar and that positive energy will do your body good.
