Help! What Do I Wear to a Summer Wedding

Posted August 7, 2023 by in Fashion

We all know the feeling. You’ve just RSVP’d, and then your mind quickly panics about what you’re going to wear for the occasion. It’s only natural – everyone wants to look amazing for any big event, especially a wedding. Luckily you’ve got plenty of time to figure it out and plan your drop-dead gorgeous outfit.

Bringing the right wedding look together can be done with a few simple steps. Consider our tips down below.

Choose your outfit

The first step is to consider the dress code, if one’s been provided on your invite. What you’ll be adorning for a black tie wedding is likely to be very different to a white tie or smart casual event. Don’t stray too far from the code because it will match the venue you’ll be attending.

Within the code, finding the right occasion wear can be tricky. You could opt for a summery floral dress, a floaty midi dress or a bright-coloured blazer and suit trousers for a more sophisticated look. You’ll know when you try something on whether or not it’s the look you’re going for.

Pair it with some heels

Heels are an integral part of any wedding outfit. They add a sense of elegance and panache to your look without taking too much attention away from the rest of your look. Strappy heels tend to be a bit more subtle, but you could go bold with some striking colours.

Make sure you wear comfortable heels because weddings can be long days and nights. If you can barely walk in them as you’re leaving the house, you certainly won’t be able to later.

Accessorise, accessorise, accessorise

The fun and excitement of weddings go well with accessories. Jazz up your outfit with as many as you see fit. Combine and layer jewellery or go simple with a lone necklace to highlight your shoulder and neckline.

Complement or contrast the rest of your outfit, depending on the colours you’re wearing. Stylish headwear is a great fit for a summer wedding, so take the opportunity to wear some if you don’t often get the chance.

Remember the English summer isn’t always dry!

You can never completely rely on the British weather, no matter the time of year! With any luck, you’ll be able to enjoy the day with beaming summer sunshine.

However, if rain does come your way, be sure to pack a little shawl or jacket to cover up with so you don’t get cold and wet. Alternatively, keep an umbrella handy should the worst happen.

Preparing your summer wedding outfit should be an incredibly fun process. Relax and enjoy the experience because they don’t come around too often!
