How to Dream Big…and Do It

Posted January 21, 2013 by in Lifestyle

“You are born and then you die, but in between you can do anything you want. It’s society that creates rules for us, but you can break out of that.”

These kinds of statements can be inspiring, but also overwhelming. The mind tends to initially say, YES! I agree! I can do anything I want!

But then mental chatter enters, But, where do I start? I don’t even know what my passion is. Maybe I’m just not one of those people…and the list goes on and on.

We all have a creative, inspiring, purposeful drive within us, it just takes some time and meditation to make it tangible. Give yourself a break — it may have been decades since you even gave this concept thought…too focused on paying bills and making a “good life.”

Here’s the permission to throw your cares out the window and find your passion…then do it!

What do you want?

Ask yourself: What do you spend your free time doing? I’m not talking about laundry, Facebook, or going out for drinks…

What do you do when you have legitimate free time? What do you foster, what do you research, and what subjects can you never get enough of?

Then notice your natural inclinations (be sure to remove pressures that aren’t yours from the equation – i.e: things you don’t necessarily love doing, but think you should). What are you inclined to spend your time doing? After all, we don’t have unlimited time here…your best bet is to spend it doing things you love.

Once you begin to recognize and develop your interests…they will turn into passions, and when you’re passionate about something, you’ll become an expert in it, seemingly by accident — It won’t be stressful or pressure-filled.

Let “what you want” come to you organically. That’s the only way to be sure it’s not motivated by something outside yourself. All that really matters is that your passion resonates with you.

Getting There

So you have figured out what you want. That’s the hardest part.

How do you make it tangible? Baby steps.

Spend as much time as you can devote to this passion. Your genuine love and creativity for it will pour out of your every word when talking about this topic.

People will begin to gravitate to you for advice, or may even connect your with people that can help you grow “it.” This is the law of attraction. When you are genuinely interested in something and have a good intention, the universe will conspire to bring you the resources you need to fulfill it. Surprise yourself… and let it happen.
