Maybe you’ve never considered hosting a casino party, or maybe you did and concluded it was a bit too much hassle. Well worry not, we’re here to show you how to host the perfect casino party by helping you perfectly plan one!

A casino party makes for a great centrepiece for your celebration or fundraiser. Why? Many people now enjoy playing casino games online, the internet is home to a large number of casino providers, including casino sites with fast payout options, casino sites with no deposit bonuses and casino sites with a range of games to choose from and has contributed to a boom in casino gaming popularity.

Despite the rise of online casinos, land based casino gaming still remain popular and some casino scenes are even included in some of the top films. Ocean’s Eleven, The Hangover, The Gambler, The Cooler and, of course, Casino, are all fine examples of casino-themed movies. They’re also an integral part of none other than James Bond, author Ian Fleming made casinos places of glamour, sophistication and adventure.

And this is a great place to begin our perfect casino party journey!

  • Start by deciding whether you want your casino party purely for fun or as a charity fundraising event. If it’s the latter, it’s time to check the law again, if it’s the former, we’re good to go.
  • You might want your night to have a theme: we’ve already mentioned James Bond -though perhaps keep clear of ‘Casino’! Alternatively, how about the Wild West, the Roaring Twenties, a Viva Las Vegas theme, or just keep it casual with jeans and tees.
  • The former two points will help you to determine your ideal location -you might be able to host the event from home, for example. But if you’re going big, you’ll need to start thinking about the ideal venue: office, function room, an actual casino etc.

Now you need to put your theme into action. This starts by writing a dress code for your guests: black tie for Bond, Stenson’s for Westerns, flapper dresses for Gatsby etc.

The next part is crucial. It determines both the look of the venue for the duration of the event and the games you’ll be playing.

A green tablecloth, a pack of cards, coloured chips and some ready-to-go cocktails are really all you need. But if you want to take things to the next level, begin by working out the games you’re intending to play.

But be aware, not all of your guests will be familiar with casino games so, at the very least, have Poker and Blackjack tables. A roulette table is a great investment too, and don’t forget you can hire everything including professional dealers and real slot machines!

Once you’ve got the games sorted, you’re going to need to spruce up the venue with décor to match the theme. There are loads of resources online to help with this, so spend some time doing your research and buying/hiring accordingly.

Now it’s time to turn our attention to the party in real-time. Creating the right ‘live’ atmosphere is vital to the success of your evening and should not be underestimated!

Music, for example, won’t just keep the guests entertained as they play and mingle, it’ll help to consolidate your theme. Here are some ideas to get you started.

Wild West: Ennio Morricone

The Twenties: Louis Armstrong, Jelly Roll Morten

James Bond: John Barry, Shirley Bassey

Or just have a gambling-centric playlist:

Viva Las Vegas: Elvis Presley; The Gambler. Kenny Rogers; Poker Face: Lady Gaga; Winner Takes it All: ABBA; The Ace of Spades: Motorhead etc.

Now, we’re only mentioning food and drink last because if you want your guests to last, think about food and drink first! While you’ll have control over who you invite, that doesn’t mean that things will automatically swing into action.

But the right food and drink will not only get the party going, but it will also keep your guests happy as the evening opens up. And if you’re fundraising, plenty of food and drink will keep partygoers spending their money.

Food can be anything from themed hot/cold cut sandwiches or dips and chips right through to a selection of hors d’oeuvre and canapés. Just make sure there is a plentiful supply that covers all dietary requirements.

As for drinks, that’s the fun part, just ensure you’ve plenty of non-alcoholic options and ensure that water is readily available. Incidentally, it’s a good idea to have a managed bar or a friend/trusted other to keep everything running smoothly.

Keep your eye on the time to prevent the party from rolling into the wee hours, unless that was the plan all along. If not, put a curfew in place.

So, there you have it, one perfect casino party and one perfect host, all ready to roll.
