In a World Where You Can Be Anything—Be You

Growing up, I remember my parents wanted me to be a doctor. I was over the age of 15 before I realized that I was not too fond of the sight of blood, talk more of being a regular in a hospital setting. Plus, I had a high sense of fashion, and many of the doctors I knew at the time were quite lacking in style. It was then I discovered that I was better off in an industry where fashion and style made the headlines. And boy, I couldn’t wait till I was decked in the trendiest of fashion statements.

While I couldn’t spend on designer wears as a kid, I spent over $30,000 on fashion and luxury last year, and I am only 26. I don’t mean to brag, but I know a lot of folks may think that’s insane for someone who earned a little above $70K last year. I like to wear something I am comfortable in, and dressing stylish pushes me to do more to afford the luxurious lifestyle. It is my medicine, my therapy, to go shoe shopping, wine tasting, or wake up in a new country.

This is why I work hard to make a living:

Let’s Talk About You

But enough of me, what about you? How are you? If it has been a long time since you took care of yourself, now could be the best time to do so. Start by giving yourself that upgrade you have always desired. Consider finding a workout you love or try to quit smoking. You alone know what it is you have to do to become a happier person. It could be to become the next superstar or to go to the moon; everything is within reach, and it starts by telling yourself you can.

Let’s face it; A lot of us can agree that things are a lot easier in this age of the internet and technological advancement. All the information you need to make positive changes are at your fingertips, and this was not possible for a lot of folks back in the 70s and 80s, even up till the 90s. Nowadays, a lot of teens are taking advantage of the internet and making careers out of their online startup. And the truth is you don’t require any special skills to get your business online.

Are you Free?

A lot of reasons why many people don’t achieve their goals is that they are hinged on so much negative energy that it makes it hard for them to make progress. I forgot to mention earlier that I used to smoke weed heavily a few years back, this was before I discovered myself and what I truly wanted out of my time on earth. It wasn’t easy for me to move forward from my teenage days where I was much of a carefree hipster—I mean no offense to those who are proud hippies. But it took me a while to realize that wasn’t me.

You alone know what it is that is holding you back. But I tell you the greatest evil to success is fear, the fear of change, of the unknown. A lot of us are scared to die, that they hesitate to make the jump until it is too late. Always tell yourself the truth; you are your greatest friend and your worst adversary. You have to make the leap, and if you fall, get up and climb again.

If you are young, there is no risk in trying, travel if you have to, work overtime, but whatever you do, keep trying. It’s not always easy at first, but as the saying goes, after the rain comes the sun. In the beginning, you will fail a couple of times, as it is expected because nothing good comes easy, and you will have to pay the price to become you. But if you are like me who loves style and luxury, you should know that it will cost quite a fortune at the end of the year.

Final Note

It starts with a little kindness; that’s my motto. Show a bit of service to others, and most of all, be kind to yourself. I take it seriously that I have some of these stylish be kind t shirts to remind me every step of the way. I have walked the dark road before and know that there is light at the end of the tunnel, while mine might not have been as deep as yours, I do know that you have what it takes to become the you that you can be proud of.

I would suggest you get yourself a mentor with traits that you admire and consider doing away with all the negativity that stops you from getting ahead.
