Moving: the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

Posted August 11, 2015 by in Home

For anyone that has moved house, there is always a story to tell about the moving experience. It may be the discovery of old photos that were missing for five years. Or it may be the choices you needed to make about what stayed, and what went. Either way, moving can be one of the most frustrating things that you can do in your lifetime. It also offers an opportunity to close one chapter in your life, and start another.

Below are the the usual pros and cons of moving and how to overcome them.

“Out with the old, in with the new”

Moving into your new place should offer you a new beginning. Why hold onto the past when you can create and build a better future? One of the quickest and simplest ways to achieve this is by investing in the interior design of your new home. Popular options include replica furniture such as those that are offered by Ikea and Overstock.com.

Replica furniture offers people the chance to purchase trendy designer inspired furnishings in their home that can give them a sense of uniqueness and a touch of modern luxury. There are inexpensive options that include chairs, stools, tables, lounge sets and more.

“You see in this world, there are two kinds of people”

Fortunately, many of us will move only a few times, whereas others may find themselves constantly on the go. While the nomadic life may appeal to some, the sense of having a comfortable home that you can create and define is more appealing to most.

“I’ve never seen so many men wasted so badly”

This can often be the feeling during the moving process. There are often so many boxes and items to move that it can be incredibly frustrating. But to create the home that you want, this has to be done.

To make the process easier, a system needs to be put into place where things can be organized effectively. This means investing in storage boxes (strong cardboard ones ideally) that provide labelling options that are clear for the packer and the movers to pack the items correctly, pack the boxes correctly into the removal vehicles, and to unpack the items correctly at the other end.

Simplify the process even more by getting rid of items that are unnecessary. Keep only what you know you will use and that you know is important, rather than hoarding onto items.

“I have a feeling that it’s going to be a really long battle”

If you decide you want to keep and move everything, then you will have a long battle ahead of you. Many people find it more convenient to sell off as many items as possible and to use the accumulated funds towards the furnishings in their new home. For some, the thought of selling off their possessions will be another battle of its own. However, if you are in a position to sell off your items, then do so and allow yourself to create a fresh new environment in your new place.
