Gold is my all time favorite and it’ll always be my choice over silver. To be honest, I really don’t like silver jewelry on me at all. My skin tone is medium tan with golden undertones, so gold just looks better on me. But here’s the problem with gold—it’s extremely expensive! A pure 14k yellow gold Cuban link chain (my favorite style) can easily cost you over $1,500—yikes!
Then there’s gold plated jewelry, which usually doesn’t last long, but the quality of gold plated jewelry varies greatly from retailer to retailer. From personal experience, my past gold plated jewelry only lasted me about one month of daily wear before I started noticing tarnishing. And finally there is that ultra cheap faux gold that can be found at retailers like H&M, SHEIN, and Forever21 that starts to tarnish the second you start wearing the accessory. A recent pair of faux gold hoops only lasted two wears before I had to throw them away due to being in the pool. Two! That is so incredibly wasteful. Not only is that not cost effective, it’s terrible for the environment.
Thankfully I was introduced to Rellery earlier this summer and game changer! Why? Because it’s waterproof!

Rellery Jewelry Review
Rellery specializes in tarnish-free gold jewelry, and after four months of non-stop wear, I can say my two necklaces are still gold with no sign of tarnish. While gold plated, it’s plated over sterling silver with gold vermeil—a very thick layer of 14k solid gold. Most gold plated jewelry we see for sale is plated with a very thin layer of 14k gold over cheap brass, so tarnishing is inevitable.
When I have a gold chain necklace I like, I tend to wear it daily with no breaks—meaning I wear it to bed, in the shower, and even when I have a pool or beach day. Despite spending a lot of time in chlorine this summer, both of my Rellery necklaces still look like new. And according to their website—they never tarnish, and if a Rellery piece does start to tarnish, they will send you a replacement. Below is a statement from their website:
“In the rare instance that your piece tarnishes, it can usually be brought back to shine with a polishing cloth. We also provide a Lifetime Tarnish Guarantee if you need our assistance in bringing it back to perfect – just sent it back and we’ll fix it up or replace it.“

Have sensitive skin? All Rellery jewelry is nickel free, so you don’t have to worry about any green transferring to your skin, or worse, a rash.
More of a silver person? Rellery plates all of their sterling silver jewelry with rhodium for added protection.
Below I’m layering the Baby Cuban Link Necklace ($115) and the Skinny Snake Chain Necklace ($95). I love layering necklaces and find that these two pair very well together—I get compliments all of the time. While expensive compared to the jewelry found at popular fast-fashion retailers, these accessories are built to last. Plus, Rellery is at least $1500 cheaper than purchasing a pure 14k gold chain necklace. That’s a win in my eyes!

Overall, I really like Rellery and I will absolutely be wearing their waterproof gold jewelry from now on. Their gold hoops are currently on my wish list!
