Coyote Howls is made up of two RV parks. Both of the parks are accessible, child-friendly, and pet-friendly, which is a bonus, as many people bring their pets along on RV trips. Both parks are excellent for RVers of all ages, but one is for basic, or more primitive camping, while the other is a modern campground with state of the art facilities. The main reason you should choose Coyote Howls is its proximity to many landmarks and fun activities, all within a 100-mile radius.
If you like to have authentic outdoor experiences, this is the right place because you are right in the middle of a desert. Therefore, you’ll hear coyotes and burros all the time. The location is quiet and relaxing, so if you need to disconnect from city life, this is a great option.
Where is it located?
The Coyote Howls parks are located in the middle of the Sonoran Desert in Arizona, in the small rural community of Why. It borders the Tohono O’odham Indian Nation, and it is located 30 miles from the border with Mexico.
If you’re familiar with the area, you’ll be glad to know it is near the Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, a famous sight to see in Southern Arizona.
The Two RV Parks
Coyote Howls encompasses two RV parks, one is modern, and one is an affordable yet welcoming park for all budgets. There are two parks: Coyote Howls East and West.
Coyote Howls East
This RV park is ideal for those on a budget. The website calls it ‘primitive camping with amenities,’ and it is an excellent description of the park. Usually, a primitive campground is known as a boondocking spot, and it implies that there are limited accommodations or none in some cases. But that’s not what you’ll find here – this place has a bunch of perks and facilities are low prices.
Therefore, if you are looking for basic camping, this is the place to be! You can visit as a tent camper, with your RV (small or large), and even Class A coaches. Why is this place great?
The East park offers some great amenities you usually don’t find in boondocking campgrounds elsewhere, such as:

Coyote Howls West

There are so many things you can do there, and it offers access to everything you need. The best part about camping here is the proximity to nearby attractions. For example, you’ll be located 10 minutes away from the Ajo and the Tohono O’odham Indian Nation. If you fancy a visit to Mexico, you’re only half an hour away from Sonoyta.

Additional Cost Information
Suppose you plan on heading to Why, you need to know that there are a total of 38 sites there. You can choose to pay a daily, weekly rate, or monthly rate. In Coyote East, it only costs $10 per day to camp there. In Coyote West, it costs $22. If you choose to use electricity, you need to pay that separately, on top of the camping fees.
Note that you only pay cash or by cheque. They do not accept debit or credit cards, which is a disadvantage for many people. As well, there are no refunds.
