With an increasingly diverse selection of wine on the market, 2022 is the perfect time to expand your palette. Red wine is currently the most popular drink amongst American adults (69%) with Merlot (19%), cabernet sauvignon (18%), pinot noir (12%), and Zinfandel being the most popular reds, a new YouGov poll reveals. But there’s so much more to wine than red or white.

Australian Wine
Australia offers a diverse and delicious selection of wine to suit every taste. For example, Australian Shiraz red wine offers notes of ripe red berries, cloves, licorice, chocolate and tobacco. It’s a full-bodied, dry wine, but sweetness is still provided by the berries.
Penfolds Grange, Henschke’s Hill of Grace, The Laird from Torbreck, and Chris Ringland’s Dry Grown Shiraz are considered some of Australia’s best Shiraz wines available. Or, if you prefer a light- to medium-bodied wine, try Australian Grenache. It’s a delicate wine with fruity aromas like pomegranate, wild strawberries, violets and red fruit.
Sustainable Wine
With climate change awareness on the rise, sustainable wine is becoming a necessary trend. Sustainable wine generally refers to the implementation of practices which mitigate and reduce waste during the wine making process. There are an increasing number of sustainable wines on the market.
In particular, Andre Ostertag is one of Alsace’s most famous sustainable winemakers. His 2007 Riesling Fronholz has notes of pineapple, ginger, lemon, sage, oregano and seawater, and is guaranteed to invigorate the palette. Orange wine tastes similar to red wine, and typically contains flavors of mild stone fruit and strong tea. In particular, Clot de l’Origine’s “l’Original” is the perfect wine for spring, with notes of thyme, orange rind, candied ginger and white lilies.
