The holiday season is just around the corner and with it, comes a lot of parties and celebrations. Although there is nothing wrong with a good party, often it can lead to a lot of unnecessary alcohol consumption. From a glass of bubbly with dinner to a New Year’s Eve party, you don’t have to drink at every occasion. Although it can be hard to minimize the amount you’re drinking, there are lots of tips and tricks you can follow to help.

With that in mind, here are a number of ways to cut down on the amount of alcohol you drink this holiday season:

Don’t Say Yes To Every Event

One of the best ways to cut down on the amount of alcohol you’re drinking this holiday season, of course, is to minimize the number of events you’re going to. With so many different parties and celebrations to choose from over the festive period, it’s okay to say no if you want to.

The best thing to do is prioritize the events you do want to attend, making sure you’re not pushing yourself to go to more than you can handle. For a guide to saying no this festive season, you can visit this site here.

Take Your Own Non-Alcoholic Drinks With You

Another great way to cut down the amount you’re drinking this festive season is to take your own non-alcoholic drinks with you. Often, party hosts, won’t think to get non-alcoholic drinks in so if you take your own, you reduce the risk of feeling as though you have to drink alcohol all night. If you have been struggling with your alcohol intake, this is the best way to prepare for any uncomfortable situations as you can simply say you have your own drink that you’d like to drink.

If you don’t want to stand there holding “just a coke,” consider bringing some supplies to make your own mocktail. Seltzer water with a splash of cranberry juice and fresh basil or thyme is always delicious.

Have One Soft Drink For Every Alcoholic Drink

If you still want to be able to have a couple of drinks at a party, you might find it beneficial to have one soft drink for every alcoholic drink you drink. Not only does this mean you still get to have a couple but it also means you’ll be minimizing the headache you have in the morning.

Set Yourself A Limit

Although this may not work for everyone, setting yourself a limit is another great way to ensure you’re not drinking too much this festive season. Whether you set yourself a limit of two drinks or you allow yourself to have a little, setting a limit will automatically reduce the amount you’re drinking.

If you do still want to enjoy alcohol with your friends, you could also bring your own bottle of an alcohol with a lower percentage. If you have never had either seltzer water with splash of Aperol or creme de violette, you’re missing out.

Be The Designated Driver

Finally, you might want to consider being the designated driver as this means you won’t be allowed to drink anything.
