For so many of us, our career defines us. It’s who we are. So choosing the right career is something that we place a lot of pressure upon. While it might be about using the ideal career, in one respect there are a lot more things that you have to consider, including the following.

Your Personality Type

If you have a specific personality type that highlights you are more associated with leading or you work best in a team, you might think that this confines your career to the office. But the fact is that if you are after something with a bit more to it, that you are benefiting humankind, you should never underestimate a career like the armed forces. 

It is something that can be intimidating, especially if you haven’t ever thought about this line of career but there are a lot of things to bear in mind. From the physical nature of the role to the notion of going to war, the fact is that while there’s an abundance of plate carrier setup tips for uniform or the thought of being away from family members for so long doesn’t appeal, the army is something that might suit you. You should never rule it out because it might suit your personality perfectly. There’s a variety of different personality tests that can give you a bit more insight into this.

  • What are my core values? 
  • What am I interested in? 
  • What are my strengths and weaknesses? 
  • Do I want to specialize in specific skills? 

When you start answering these basic questions and any others that are crucial to you, this points you towards more beneficial career choices.

Look at Your Skillset…

Skillsets are not set in stone. However, if you are looking to change careers, you need to look at what your current areas of expertise really are. You can ask others for feedback this can point toward a career that you may not have considered. Working with people doesn’t just confine you to a career in HR. The fact is that it can help you in a nursing career, working with disadvantaged or less able people and so many more avenues.

Sometimes we can overthink the concept of a grand career that ticks every box. Instead, you might want to look at a few basic interests in terms of your hobbies and identify the things you enjoy. While this could be outside of a professional context, if you are interested in creating or writing, you can work as a writer in terms of blogging or article writing. The fact is that there’s a variety of careers out there that can benefit us when we see the many options available. If you really want to make an impact in your career, there are more options than you realize. But at the end of the day, it stems from what you truly feel in yourself.
