what to wear in vegas

Do you enjoy traveling to Las Vegas? If so, you’re in good company; some 42 million people visited Sin City in 2018. Visitors come from around the world to eat in five-star restaurants, to see exciting acts, concerts, and shows, and of course to gamble.

What to wear in Vegas? That depends a lot on the reasons you’re visiting. If you’re just there to take advantage of the mega-buffets and maybe scarf down some of the 60K lbs. of shrimp that tourists eat in Las Vegas every year, you’ll want elastic-waisted pants! On the other hand, if you’ve come to party, be sure to pack your fanciest, swankiest duds.

Read on for more tips on what to wear when you travel to L.V.!

  1. At Least One Pair of Comfortable Shoes

Most people like to take advantage of the huge variety of tourist attractions when they visit Las Vegas. That means lots of walking.

Pack a pair of comfortable, broken-in sandals, sneakers, or walking shoes. That way you can feel free to roam during the daytime, take in all the sights, and still be able to dance the night away come sundown.

  1. Proper Clothing for the Season

Las Vegas is located in the desert, of course, so bear that in mind when you are deciding what clothes to bring with you on your vacation. In the summertime, it’s going to be hot. But every indoor destination will be air-conditioned.

Pack tanks and tees, shorts, or sundresses for when you’re out walking. A light cardigan, hoodie, or wrap of some sort is also advisable in case you get chilly in the aircon.

Come wintertime, Vegas gets colder than you might think, particularly at night. You won’t want to be caught without a jacket or coat of some sort.

  1. Club Wear

If you’re going to hit up the nightclubs, the fancy restaurants, Las Vegas concerts, or the VIP rooms of the casinos, bring something slinky. This city revels in excess, so feel free to wear a low-cut dress, mile-high stilettos or platforms, or anything sparkly, glittery, or bejeweled.

Men can dress to the nines as well in designer suits, sharp fedoras, or a tux. Know that some clubs have strict dress codes. These won’t allow baggy jeans, jerseys, too-casual t-shirts, sandals, etc.

  1. Your Swimsuit

There are pools and hot tubs in just about every hotel in Vegas. Some of them have cabana service so you can really feel like a celebrity. Don’t forget to pack your swimsuit or even your teeny-weeny bikini.

Be advised, however, that if you wear something very revealing at a hotel that caters to families, you might be asked to cover up.

  1. Wedding Attire

There are some 50 wedding chapels in Sin City, and you just never know when you might decide to get hitched — or renew your vows if you’re already living in wedded bliss. So it’s not a bad idea to wear something you wouldn’t mind getting married in.

A nice suit for men and an LBD or other classy dress for women is perfect. Even if you don’t take the plunge, you’ll probably go out for a nice meal and will need your dress-up duds for that.
