You Can Lose Weight On A Budget: Here’s How

Posted July 23, 2015 by in Health + Fitness

If you have gained a pound or two, you might be thinking about going on a health kick. After all, us girls always like to look our best, don’t we?

While going on a diet is a great way to knock off those extra pounds, diets can often be expensive. The problem is that far too often, healthy food is a lot more expensive than junk food, fresh meat and veggies.

However, just because healthy food is expensive, that doesn’t mean that going on a diet isn’t doable on a budget. Believe it or not, you can lose weight while on a budget, here’s how:

Opt for an All-Inclusive Diet

Instead of making all your meals and snacks yourself, why not opt for a diet that includes everything that you will need? All-inclusive diets like the Nutrisystem fast 5 are great because after the initial cost, there is nothing else to pay for.

Budget Shop

While fresh meat, fish, and vegetables can be costly, you can pick them up cheaply if you budget shop. It might take more effort, but there are ways you can save money on food shopping.

Look in your supermarket’s reduced section for meat and fish that is going out of date – these items can be reduced by up to 75 percent. Stock up on as much reduced meat and fish as you can and then freeze it and use it as you need it.

Budget shopping for reduced food means that you can get lots of healthy foods for a fraction of the original price. You can then use these foods to whip up lots of healthy meals for your dinner.

Look For Low-Cost Snack Ideas

When it comes to healthy snacks, pre-made ones are often incredibly expensive. Whereas, non-healthy snacks are always much cheaper. Instead of paying out huge prices for healthy snacks or buckling and eating unhealthy snacks, make your own.

Believe it or not, you can make your own healthy snacks for incredibly cheap prices. Homemade hummus and veg sticks, homemade popcorn, and homemade yogurt dip are all ideal diet snacks.

Be Creative With Exercise

Don’t make the mistake of signing up for a gym membership – gyms are expensive. Instead, get creative when it comes to ways, to exercise. There are so many ways you can exercise for free, things like running, cycling, and hiking are all free.

If you want to start taking exercise classes, invest in an exercise DVD instead of attending class. You will only have an initial cost to cover, instead of having to pay on a weekly basis, so this works out much cheaper. You could also check out different fitness guru’s on Youtube (I personally like Cassie Ho of Blogilates) for free videos.

While losing weight on a budget might seem impossible, it isn’t. There are plenty of ways you can lose weight without overspending, all it takes is a bit of creative thinking, that’s all.
