Is Work Stressing You Out? Here Are Quick Tips to Get Relief

If you constantly feel stressed at work, you are indeed in good company. According to a recent study, as many as 94% of Americans reported experiencing stress at their workplaces. 

This is rather unfortunate, given that the average adult will spend a third of their lives at work. What can you do when you are stressed at work and quitting is not an option?

Here are quick tips to get relief:

1.Work Out

A good early morning work-out can do wonders for your stress levels. Whenever you exercise, your body releases chemicals known as endorphins. These then interact with receptors in your brain to trigger positive feelings, much like morphine does.

Exercise has been proven to reduce stress, ward off anxiety and feelings of depression. It also gives you the energy you need to tackle the day head-on. While a morning work-out is excellent for your health, an after-work work-out can also do you good. 

2.Try CBD

Good quality CBD has very little THC in it. THC is the compound responsible for psychoactive effects. This means you can take CBD flower for stress management with little worry about whether or not you will still be able to function at work. 

CBD flower is fast-acting, can be taken in several ways, and is legal on the federal level.

If you are a beginner, start slow to identify the right dose. With time, you can also figure out the best time of day to take CBD in order to manage your stress optimally.

3. Learn to Say No

Most people find that their stress comes from being overwhelmed. This is either from one’s official description or allowing your colleagues and managers to dump more work on your desk.

If it’s the latter, then you are indeed doing yourself a disservice. Once you start being stressed, this bleeds into all other areas of your life, including your health and relationships, not just your job.

And yes, there is a way of saying no at work without burning bridges.

4. Plan Better

Running behind schedule can cause stress and anxiety. While this is sometimes due to issues beyond your control, it’s at times a result of poor planning on your part. 

If the latter is to blame, getting more organized can significantly alleviate your stress. Begin by getting a planner, whether physical or online. Ensure to log all your tasks as they come in, with their respective deadlines.

This will help you prioritize better and avoid situations where you have a mountain of work to be completed within unreasonable timelines because you are playing catch-up.

5. Take Breaks

If you work in a high-stress environment, taking short breaks throughout the day can allow you to step away from the chaos and come back with a fresh mind. This can take different forms, including stepping outside for a short walk and fresh air or even getting a much-needed mug of coffee.

For some, playing one or two of their favorite songs is all the stress management they need before diving back in.

6. Resist Perfectionism

While a lot can be said about people that want everything to be just right, it can also be stressful.

As you strive to do a good job, don’t sweat the small stuff. Similarly, allow yourself to make and learn from your mistakes. Failure to do this and you are going to get increasingly stressed out over time.

As prevalent as stress is in the workplace, do not allow yourself to fall into the dark abyss. Being able to manage and reduce stress at the workplace is the only way to be healthier and happier in and outside work.
