Tips for Being Healthy When You Don’t Have Much Time

Posted February 15, 2019 by in Lifestyle

Your health is never something you should take for granted; without it, you won’t be able to live a full and happy life. Yet sometimes it can feel as though in order to be healthy you need a lot of time and energy, and you need to know exactly what ‘healthy’ means. However, it doesn’t have to be that way; being healthy is something that everyone can do, no matter how much time they have or how much they know about how the body works. Here’s how:

Plan Ahead

Planning is crucial for two reasons. It means you won’t overspend because you know exactly what you need to buy when you go to the grocery store which is always a bonus. It also means that you’ll know what you’ll be eating through the week. If you’re going out, working late, or have plenty of time because you have a day at home, you can plan your meals to suit.

Don’t forget when making a grocery list for the week ahead to check through your cupboards to see what you already have. You could cut your grocery bill substantially when you see what is there and build your meal plan around things you don’t have to buy.

The further ahead you can plan, the more time you can save. Cooking at home also tends to be way healthier than eating at restaurants or ordering takeout.

Make Time

Sometimes you need to make time if you want to be healthy. Although eating well and exercising are things that can be done in just moments, if you have a mental health issue and you need help, then ensure you take the time to deal with it. Mental health and self-care are two very important things; just as important as drinking water and getting your vitamins.

Take vacation days from work, call in sick, ask someone to look after your family for as long as it takes. Your mental health cannot be dealt with quickly, and although there might be ‘quick fixes’, getting the right help from www.therecoveryvillage.com for your stress, depression, borderline anxiety disorder, or anything else is crucial.

Exercise

As well as eating healthily, you will need to regularly exercise as well in order to be truly fit and healthy. Exercise doesn’t have to take a lot of time, though, even if it seems like it. If you can’t commit to attending a weekly class because your job has long hours or because you need to take the kids to various activities, or you don’t like the idea of joining a gym, especially if the nearest one is far away, there are other things you can do.

Go for a walk during your lunch break, or park your car farther from the entrance to your place of work and then jog from where you are parked. Take the stairs rather than the elevator. Run up and down the stairs at home. Follow exercise videos on YouTube. There are dozens of ways to get fit in short spaces of time if you are determined enough to seek them out and follow them.
